Harden joined young basketball players and students, adidas ozweego plus friends and family at the place where it all started, Audubon Middle School, for the adidas Basketball Imma Be a Star Block Party. Team KOF was in attendance as Harden and adidas Basketball General Manager Kris Aman unveiled 12 new outdoor basketball courts for the school and announced that Harden and adidas are also updating the indoor basketball gymnasium in time for the start of school later this year. There were on-court basketball competitions and games led by some of the sport s top trainers, live musical performances by Rick Ross and Famous Dex, plus food and more for everyone in attendance. Last week we had the privilege of flying out to Las Vegas to attend the 2nd annual adidas Basketball LVL3 event.

You re on the verge of releasing your 4th signature shoe with adidas, what does it mean for you to have four shoes under your belt?

It s not an Ultra Boost that everybody just needs to have or a Pure Boost that is simply pillows on your feet, but the Ace Tango has some of the adidas ultra boost DNA that have those kicks without being confused as a knockoff. The TR is the key part of the shoe s function as it is a trainer that s made of post-pitch. The Boost midsole gives the shoe a comfy ride as you might expect from anything with Boost. The upper is a combination of Primeknit and mesh with a layered skin that gives the Ace Tango a snug, compression-like fit (update the material is actually called PrimeMesh according to adidas). Great if your feet are narrow, not so much if they re a little on the wide side. Reflective pops on the three stripes paired along with the electric green hits might turn off those who love their Boost sneakers to be as monotone as possible, but it gives them a look that you just don t see in Ultra or Pure Boosts.

The original adidas Pure Boost is really the sneaker that made me a adidas yung 96 believer in Boost and in some ways, adidas itself. We can talk about how the Ultra Boost put the brand on the map again and how Kanye West did his thing and made the three stripes relevant to the hypebeasts, but it was the Pure Boost that set the table for the brand and opened it up to be accepted beyond the usual people who shop for kicks. Priced affordably and styled accordingly, the Pure Boosts were the perfect walking shoe in 2014 and has maintained that momentum ever since. While we chase down Triple White Ultra Boosts and hope to God the Confirmed app will work when trying to cop a rare NMD, the Pure Boost (and the easier to find NMDs) are the kicks that your friends and your relatives wear that don t care about the hype but want something cheap and comfortable.

This year marks the biggest revision yet for the adidas Pure Boost with a brand-new knit upper, revised tongue construction and much more. Normally when you do a sneaker unboxing, you want somebody that s going to be hyped up to open it and talk about what s cool about the shoe and how it s the hottest thing ever (for that weekend s slate of releases). I always keep that in mind when I do these things and usually try to only pick out only pre-release (special edition packages sent by brands or partners notwithstanding) sneakers that I have an interest in.
